APP Inhouse Day – October 27th 2014

Welcome to the APP Inhouse Day!

Are you an engineering student at KULeuven, UGent or VUB? Then this is your chance to catch a glimpse of ExxonMobil in action! During the APP Inhouse Day you will visit our Antwerp Polymers plant in Zwijndrecht. You will get a tour of our production facilities, and see some of the technology you’ve encountered during your studies in practice. You will have the opportunity to meet both young engineers and experienced managers and to interact with them in an informal setting. You will learn more about ExxonMobil’s activities in the BeNeLux and worldwide, and demonstrate your analytical and teamwork skills in challenging case studies. Get a taste of some of the opportunities we provide to young engineers, and see for yourself whether a career at ExxonMobil is for you!

Program

You will be picked up in Ghent, Leuven or Brussels, arriving at our Antwerp Polymers Plant by 8.30am. The day will start with an introduction to the Polymers business, and how it fits into both our chemicals organization, and the corporation as a whole. We will then dive straight into the action! You will be presented with a challenging case study, where your analytical skills will be tested to the limit. You’ll present your results to a management panel: how certain are you of your solutions? The morning is wrapped up with a well-deserved lunch.

The afternoon is kicked off with interactive sessions on what you can expect from a starter job, as well as the rest of your career. Finally, we’ll do an extensive tour of the plant where you will see an impressive combination of chemistry and machinery, working together to produce some of our specialty polymers. The plant tour will be done in small groups with a young engineer as your guide, which will give you a chance to ask any questions you may have. The plant tour ends our visit to the Antwerp Polymers Plant, but it doesn’t yet end the event!

In the evening program we invite you to a leisurely activity and a dinner at an off-site location. Throughout the evening you’ll be able to interact in an informal setting with both experienced managers and young engineers. This will be your opportunity to go deeper into some of the topics discussed during the day, and to ask any remaining questions.

Practical

Transportation to the plant in the morning and return to your university town in the evening will be arranged. Lunch and dinner will be provided. More details on the exact time will be communicated when you are invited to the event.
